TUMMY TUCK/ ABDOMINOPLASTY

Achieve beautifully toned abs with absolutely minimum pain through abdominoplasty

Weight changes or pregnancy can cause abdominal laxity, stretch marks, and excess skin that cannot be reversed even through intense exercise or strict dieting. An abdominoplasty can restore slackened muscles and remove excess fat and skin to create a beautiful, toned stomach in less than two hours.

Having published an international textbook on abdominoplasty, Dr Tiryaki is an expert and mentor in this field. Inverse Abdominoplasty, his specialised method utilises a cutting-edge anaesthetic technique for the muscles that ensures totally pain-free results and most importantly an aesthetically supreme waist definition, a more muscular appearance and a better reverse lifting of the groin.

He is a genius. I had tummy tuck, breast reduction and lifting all at same operation. When I was told that I would have minimum pain I didn’t wanna believe it, but after the operation I couldn’t believe that there was minimum pain and discomfort. Also before the op the doctor and his assistance were very patient answering all my questions and easing my worry. Great team. I can say that it was the right decision choosing him.

WHAT IS TUMMY TUCK/ ABDOMINOPLASTY?

A tummy tuck pulls the inner walls of the abdomen together, creating an ‘inner corset’ and drawing the muscles to the centre line.
Once the abdominal wall has been flattened and narrowed,
any excess skin is removed and pulled down and together to create a slimmer profile.

Edited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tunc Tiryaki, and published by Springer-Verlag,
Inverse Abdominoplasty: An Illustrated Guide
discusses the specialized methods by which patients can obtain a perfectly toned belly without any pain.

Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty with Dr. Tunç Tiryaki

Dr Tiryaki is a mentor in the field of abdominoplasty, with profound expertise in the procedure’s artistry and science. Having published his technique entitled “Inverse Abdominoplasty”, Dr Tiryaki believes that tummy tuck surgery is an artistic process involving much more than simply getting rid of abdominal skin excess. On your visit, Dr Tiryaki will listen to you and learn your objectives and desires. After examining you and evaluating your physical requirements, he will discuss the details of the procedure and answer any questions you may have. You will experience the care and warmth of Dr Tiryaki’s team throughout your journey – from your initial consultation to recovery and follow-up.

How is a Tummy Tuck/ Abdominoplasty performed?

A tummy tuck surgery with Dr Tiryaki in the UK pulls the inner walls of the abdomen together, creating an ‘inner corset’ and drawing the muscles to the centre line. Once the abdominal wall has been flattened and narrowed, any excess skin is removed and pulled down and together to create a slimmer profile. The resulting scar sits below the bikini line. Abdominoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia, and Dr Tiryaki’s expert technique ensures that patients do not experience any pain after the surgery, only tightness and tension in the area.

Who should consider the Tummy Tuck/ Abdominoplasty?

Patients who are looking to flatten and tone the abdominal area after pregnancy or weight changes can benefit from a tummy tuck surgery in the UK. The loose, sagging skin that remains after significant weight loss may not disappear without surgical intervention, particularly as the body ages. Abdominoplasty can also restore tightness to the abdominal wall, address uneven fat distribution, and eliminate stretch marks (stretch marks below the incision line are removed but above the belly button, stretch marks cannot be eliminated) . Depending on the needs of the patient, Dr Tiryaki will recommend the best procedure or combination of procedures to produce the patient’s desired outcome.

Abdominoplasty is intended to remove excess skin, not excess fat: for patients interested in weight loss, liposuction can be combined with a tummy tuck to achieve the desired result.

What are the available options for treating loose or sagging abdominals?

Patients with good skin elasticity, a strong abdominal wall and exclusively sub-dermal fat accumulation are likely to require only one liposuction or laser lipo. Patients whose skin elasticity is good but whose abdominal wall is flaccid may opt for an endoscopic abdominoplasty, which will repair and restore the abdominal wall.

Patients with sagging skin and stretch marks will need a full abdominoplasty to remove the loose and problematic skin and repair the weakened muscles. This procedure usually takes an hour and a half to two hours to complete. The incision required will be longer than a typical caesarean section scar. However, the scar will be from hip to hip, can be hidden beneath the bikini line and will fade with time.

Dr Tiryaki can recommend the best method for your body following an evaluation of your anatomy, goals, and lifestyle.

Dr Tiryaki will determine the type of procedure according to the specific needs of patients. In some cases, eyelid surgery might be needed, which can be addressed by simple skin-only eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) to reduce the downtime and avoid the need for general anaesthesia. In many patients, the nose loses its projection as the nose tip rotates down due to the midfacial bone resorption. In this case, a five-minute top-on procedure called ‘’Tip Flip’’ can recreate the youthful nasal shape. Dr Tiryaki also performs Revision Facelifts to correct problems of facelifts performed by other previous surgeons.

How long is the recovery after a Tummy Tuck/ Abdominoplasty?

Due to Dr. Tiryaki’s specialised technique, the post-operative healing process is completely painless. The patient will usually stay overnight in the hospital. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities in about a week. A compression garment must be worn for three weeks. You can undertake light exercise like walking shortly after surgery, but you should not do any heavy exercise for at least six weeks. Pregnancy is not recommended until at least one year after tummy tuck surgery.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

As with all surgical procedures, patients must abstain from taking blood thinners and limit both alcohol consumption and smoking as much as possible. Ideally, a patient should abstain entirely from smoking and drinking alcohol in the last couple of days preceding surgery.

A tummy tuck usually takes about 90 to 120 minutes and is performed under general anaesthesia.

Pregnancy is not recommended until at least one year after surgery. As with all surgical procedures, you should stop smoking for the duration of the two weeks following the operation, and you should not participate in any activities that will increase blood pressure.

The belly button may be repositioned during the course of the procedure but will remain intact. It should therefore look almost identical once the healing process is complete.

There is no minimum or maximum age limit, but tummy tucks are usually best undertaken after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

A tummy tuck will leave a thin scar on the lower abdomen. Like a caesarean section scar, this scar is located below the bikini line, where it can usually be easily hidden. After the healing period is complete, the scar will look like a thin, white line.

It is best to avoid pregnancy for at least a year after a tummy tuck. After a year there is no harm in getting pregnant. If you do not gain too much weight during pregnancy, the tummy should return afterward to how it looked post-abdominoplasty.

During an abdominoplasty, the abdomen is narrowed and an inner corset is built. Patients usually lose weight after the surgery, but in the case of moderate weight gain the abdominal area will maintain the tightened proportions created by the surgery. Excessive weight gain, however, may undermine the permanence of the results.

For those who have given birth, the right time for a tummy tuck is usually at the end of the first year. This allows enough time for the patient to lose as much weight as desired, and for sagging and stretch marks to settle. Best results are achieved if the patient has reached their ideal weight, as the tummy tuck is intended to correct the end results of a weight loss program.

Yes. For the right patient and with the correct planning, an abdominoplasty and liposuction can be carried out simultaneously. Dr. Tiryaki can also combine a tummy tuck with other operations.
