WHAT IS TIP PLASTY?
The shape of the nose determines the character of the face, and the aesthetics of the nose tip are often the most important aspect of a beautiful nose. If the patient’s dissatisfaction with the appearance of the nose is caused by the shape of the tip, tip plasty is usually the best option.
This procedure adjusts the structure of the cartilage at the tip and on the lower bridge, narrowing and raising the nasal profile. In addition to refining the shape of the nose, this can improve the general aesthetic harmony of the face.

Tip plasty with Dr. Tunç Tiryaki
After a comprehensive nasal and facial examination, Dr. Tiryaki will discuss with you different alternatives to
improve the shape and function of your nose and breathing. You will together choose the best option suited to
your particular desire and need. If you are looking for refinements particularly at your nasal tip,
and slight improvement of the nasal bridge, this procedure is for you.

How is a Tip plasty performed?
The procedure involves making a small incision at the inferior part of the columella, which is the band of tissue that separates the nostrils. Through this incision, Dr Tiryaki will open up the nose tip and reshape the cartilage according to your needs. Where there is a need to slightly reduce the height of the bridge, this can be achieved by light rasping. Once the desired shape is achieved, the skin will be closed with absorbable sutures and a protective dressing of paper bands or silicone splints will be put in place. Tip plasty procedures are performed under local anaesthesia and sedation and are complete in half an hour or less.
The surgery leaves no visible scars and most patients experience minimal pain or discomfort.
Who is an ideal candidate for this procedure?
The usual candidates for tip plasty are patients who have a drooping, flat, bulbous, or split nose tip, wider nasal wings, or issues with the nose tip cartilage.
This is an ideal procedure for those who would like to make subtle improvements without drastically changing the shape of the nose or face.
How long is the recovery time for a tipplasty procedure?
The healing period, during which the dressing must remain in place, is about a week long.

CONSULTATION FOR TIP PLASTY
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As with all surgical procedures, patients must abstain from taking blood thinners and limit both alcohol consumption and smoking as much as possible. Ideally, a patient should abstain entirely from smoking and drinking alcohol in the last couple of days preceding surgery.
Tip plasty usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete and is performed under local anaesthesia and sedation. You can return home the same day.
Dr. Tiryaki may use silicone splints to support the nose. These will be removed one to two days after the operation. In order for the nose to keep its reshaped form, it is important to keep the paper band dressing in place for seven days and to avoid any direct impact on the nose after the operation. As a precaution, blood thinners and any foods or products that might cause allergy should be avoided. As with all surgical procedures, you should stop smoking for the duration of the two weeks following the operation, and you should not participate in any activities that will increase blood pressure.
As the surgery does not involve the nasal bone, pain is usually minimal. Any mild pain experienced can be treated using simple painkillers.
There will be no visible scars. The incision is small and hidden far back on the columella, which is the band of tissue that separates the two nostrils. The suture line will heal and eventually disappear completely.
As for all surgical operations, we recommend that the patient wait to undergo surgery until the body has completely developed. Tip plasty candidates should generally be at least 18 years old.
The nose tip will not drop or collapse after a tip plasty operation. The results are permanent, unless the nose suffers trauma from a serious impact.
The patient will see the change in the nose immediately after the operation, but the true result will start to become evident a couple of weeks after surgery, after any minor post-operational bruising and oedema have healed. It may take three to six months to see the final results.
Yes, the results are permanent.
Silicone nasal splints may be used in tip plasty surgery at Dr Tiryaki’s discretion. These are removed one to two days after the operation.
