The question of why people need aesthetic operations does not make sense for me. There are some fundamental facts of life and the universe; such as living is better than dying, being healthy is better than being sick, looking beautiful is better than looking ugly… These are the simple truths of life.
In ancient Greece, the concepts of the Beautiful (Kalon) and the Good (Agathon) are complementary terms. And, Socrates combined this concept as The Good and Beautiful. In other words, the good is beautiful and the beautiful is good in the ancient Greece.
Human being has always been looking for the better throughout her/his life or evolutionary path. This is the basic principle of the universe. Atoms constitute molecules and molecules constitute the life. Life goes from single-cell to multi-cell, from there to social tissues. The evolution is still an ongoing process. Looking for the better and reaching the more beautiful is the fundamental rule of the existence. Now, this is something we can achieve. Plastic surgery is one of the ultimate steps of this journey. Thus, I do not think anything wrong with that.
The whole issue here is to stop and stay at a certain level in the path of reaching the better and the beautiful. I would like to ask what the basic quest for man or woman is. The answer is to ensure her/his integrity and maintain her/his integrity, to be better and to complete herself/himself. We are fulfilling these targets by attending to the better schools, doing more sport, taking care of her/his health and respecting herself/himself. In this case, solving the physical problems is a part of the given situation, indeed.
We may divide the plastic surgery into two categories. The first category includes aesthetic surgeries performed to correct a congenital or accidental physical appearance problem, such as breast surgery for a woman who does not have a breast, ear surgery for a man who has very prominent ear… The second category includes correction of problems caused by aging, correction of a woman’s deformed abdomen after childbirth, breast lifting of a woman with sagging breasts. I do not understand why some people still continue to question these kind of operations. Nowadays, the goal of looking better or getting rid of physical problems or deformations caused by aging is within arm’s reach. It is the personal choice whether to reach it or not. However, I do not think there is a difference between the one who gets up in the morning and directly go out of the house without even caring for he/his hair or clothes and the other one who has own personal problems but does not solve them by taking the opportunities including plastic surgery.
